Hello all! It is Survive, your NXT recapper, returning from the grave – I will be recapping TakeOver: Orlando, because the universe has aligned just right to give me enough of a breather from college for this weekend. Sorry for being gone so long – I graduated one college and transferred into another and I’m super busy right now as a result. But the planets aligned and I don’t have anything due until the Wednesday after WrestleMania, which is a lifesaver.
Greetings, assorted rasslin’ people. I am Survive’s sister, Casriath. Because Survive is a)sick and b)facing a pile of homework and tests the approximate size of Samoa Joe’s capacity for violence, I am filling in for her today. She will be back for next week’s recap. This is a good thing, because my understanding of wrestling is limited to what I pick up from watching NXT once a week with my sister, and it’s tough to learn a ton when you’re busy critiquing the WWE costuming department and coming up with snarky nicknames for various people.
Tom and Corey fill us in on the plans for tonight – the interview with Asuka and…A match between Steve Cutler and Shinsuke Nakamura? Are you bloody kidding me? That’s Shinsuke’s first match back? I mean, at least I know who I was supposed to care about last week, but c’mon.
Another week, another NXT episode! And we have returned to Full Sail and Shinsuke is going to talk to us tonight. Won’t that be nice? That’ll be nice. We will also presumably have wrestling and more fallout from Brooklyn. Proper fallout from Brooklyn, even, not just ‘This is what happened at TakeOver, oh, and we taped a few more matches, too, have an episode’ fallout.
This is the first NXT episode after TakeOver: Brooklyn II and – like the first NXT episode after TakeOver: Brooklyn I – the matches tonight were taped at Brooklyn. We’re still at Barclays, not back at Full Sail yet. This is also probably a good 70% recap, just a head’s up. We will be getting matches, but between a whole lot of recapping.
Whoo! It’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn and my second NXT PPV recap. Go me! Today is also apparently the one year anniversary of Lita and Renee being on the pre-show team together. Their third compatriot is Mauro Ranallo, which is awesome.
Hey, y’all! TakeOver: Brooklyn is on Saturday and so it’s time for me to do some quick predictions! My sister, Casriath, is going to be predicting with me. She’s not a wrestling fan, but she is long-suffering, so she’s been watching NXT with me for the past few weeks. Heads up: she’s a legitimate attorney, so she’s being the devil’s advocate today.
Welcome to the last episode before TakeOver! Tonight, our main selling point is a face-to-face interview with Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura. This is not ending well for someone – probably whatever interviewer gets sandwiched between them, poor darling.
In our main event tonight, the man who does not get hyped looks to instead get murdered by Samoa Joe tonight – erm. I mean, Mojo Rawley is apparently looking for “revenge”. Yeah, that’s gonna work out in his favor. Has he cleared this with Zack? Considering Emma’s out injured, I don’t think Zack’s a fan of Mojo getting injured either.
Earlier today, NXT’s official twitter page posted a video of Blake and Murphy arguing, setting up two of our matches tonight. Apparently Blake has a match against Shinsuke (God rest his soul. I hope he’s made his funeral arrangements) and Murphy has a match against “the favorite to win” the Cruiserweight Classic. I remember hearing that Kota Ibushi showed up at a NXT taping recently. Hmm…
