PPV Predictions: Fastlane 2017

MATCH: Rich Swann & Akira Tozawa vs. Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar

This one’s been a cute little build, actually – Tozawa rejecting Kendrick’s offer to take him on as a protégé, and Kendrick responding with trademark violence. It makes sense for Kendrick to take Dar as his heel partner, and Tozawa couldn’t really do better than Swann as his face team partner.

Prediction: Swann and Tozawa are taking this one.

MATCH: Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks

So, the last one of these was when Sasha was still all injured, and she’s supposed to have healed now. I think in order to keep this rivalry going, it should be Nia who takes the win, just to spin this out a bit towards WrestleMania.

Prediction: Nia to take this one.

MATCH: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass – Raw Tag Team Championship Match

I don’t care. I mean, I should care where the belts go, but I find the Club boys boring, and WWE managed to make me hate Enzo at the very least with the Lana angle, so frankly, I think I’m kinda out on this one. But I have to make a prediction, so I suppose I’ll go with that.

Prediction: Club to hold on for now.

MATCH: Neville vs. Jack Gallagher – WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

No, my two babes are fighting over the title! Neville looks incredible, he’s been amazing since he came back, and setting up his momentum towards WrestleMania would be nice, seeing as he lost that chance through injury last year. However, he’s always best when he comes in on a disadvantage, so I’d almost love to see him lose it, and come back at Mania for the rematch. Plus, I love Jack Gallagher, because a gallant gentleman is always welcome.

Prediction: Gallagher to win.

MATCH: Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe

Sami’s been able to show himself as dominant over even the biggest men, so he’s obviously got a chance here, but this all feels a bit slapdash because of Seth’s injury. Unfortunate, not to have the story we want behind it, but it’s still likely to be a hell of a match, two former NXT champions against each other.

Prediction: Joe needs this win, it’s too early for him to lose to Sami.

MATCH: Bayley vs. Charlotte – Raw Women’s Championship Match

A lot of us felt that Bayley’s win was wasted, with it being pre-WrestleMania and everything, but it also left Charlotte’s PPV streak unbroken, so, with that in mind, it looks like she might be taking that title back. Charlotte is undefeated at PPV, so her heading into Mania with the title and losing to Bayley there, might take down some of the disappointment people felt at Bayley’s first title reign.

Prediction: Charlotte to win.

MATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

Well, we’ve seen Strowman being an absolute monster lately, he’s pretty much pulled apart everyone other than Sami, who at least survived against him. Strowman’s been interfering in Roman’s matches lately, and it would be nice to see this retaliation, to see some of that anger come out and be expressed at some point. That said, I think Strowman has been built too strongly to lose his momentum here.

Prediction: Strowman to win.

MATCH: Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg – WWE Universal Championship Match

Oh, Christ. The match where I really, really don’t want to see what I think is going to happen. I’ve got a horrible suspicion that Goldberg might be walking into WrestleMania as the champion, to face Brock Lesnar, and then I might have to see if I can find some serious opiates for that night again, because I really wouldn’t care. But I think that’s where they’re going. However, as these are my predictions – fuck it.

Prediction: Kevin Owens to retain, thank you.

See you Sunday!
